Save More When You Go Solar in Maryland

Solar incentives in Maryland depend on the size of your system and the energy in produces as well as other particular factors. They can also change each year so always check with your local and state officials for up-to-date information.

$1,000 Residential Clean Energy Rebate

Apply for a rebate for your solar PV panels if it uses at least 1 kW-DC of energy and you could receive $1,000. Availability is first-come-first-serve with a limited amount of funds so submit your application early and before the deadline.

Up to $30,000 Commercial Clean Energy Rebate

Businesses, non-profits, and local governments can take advantage of this rebate program to receive a maximum of $30,000. Eligibility and rebate amount depends on the system output, ranging from 1 kW-DC to 375 kW-DC. There is a yearly cap and funds are dispersed on a first-come-first-served basis.

Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) and Net-Metering

Earn solar energy credits and capitalize on your unit’s extra output. One megawatt/hour of generated solar power equals one SREC credit. The credits can be sold or traded to energy suppliers so that they can meet the Maryland’s Renewable Portfolio Standard requirement.

Net-Metering in Maryland allows you to earn credits on your utility bill when you send your excess solar energy back to the electricity grid.

No Sales Tax and No Higher Property Tax

Install your Maryland solar panels without having to pay a sales tax on them. And get no increase in your property tax after installation.

  • Anne Arundel County- Residential property tax credit up to $2,500.
